De La Gente
Name, Logo, Ads
“De La Gente” means “of the people.”
It was a fitting choice for the small Costa Rican business my friend and I started selling affordable and filling lunches to local hotel employees who didn’t have the time (or the excess funds) to head into town on their lunch breaks and eat at a local cafe, called a soda.
We wanted to provide an option for employees who forgot their lunches or didn’t want to spend an exorbidant amount paying for lunch at restaurants who set their prices at tourist premium levels.
Over time we expanded into a small grocery store, where we focused primarily on stocking fresh subway-style sandwiches, which were non-existent in the area but appreciated by traveling backpackers and locals alike.
We also created the Buena Gente (Good People) Card, which was a discounted pre-paid service, great for people who didn’t carry a lot of cash.
